Inspiration for living

When you don’t know where to turn, turn to Jesus

“The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.””
‭‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.””
‭‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭NIV‬‬

All throughout history people have been searching, searching for answers to the deep questions of life, seeking personal direction or where to turn in crisis, seeking hope in the midst of darkness, searching for meaning in a sea of ideas.

All the world is searching…

But while everyone is searching for answers, Jesus claims to be the answer.

In the pages of the Bible we read about Jesus, we learn about the God who has humanity at his heart, and we learn that we are the apple of God’s eye, his prized possession. God loves us, that is why he sent us Jesus.

In the pages of the Bible we can read about Jesus, we can seek wisdom, we can find direction, most importantly though, we can find hope.

The woman at the well, a famous infamous woman of the Bible, (quoted above), had been searching for meaning. Perhaps because her life was in chaos she searched desperately for Christ (the Messiah) to reveal himself. Then he would sort everything out, for her, and everyone else.

Perhaps you are like that woman, searching desperately for the Messiah, even if you don’t realise it yet.

I encourage you to come to Jesus with your questions, with your doubting, and hear the words he speaks – words of eternal life. (John 6:68)

In the words of the Apostle Peter, “You (Jesus) have the words of eternal life.”

John 6:68 NIV.

The words of life = The Bible

Despite being written over two thousand years ago the Bible is still one of the most turned to guides on how to live life well.

Whether you are struggling with where to turn when you are feeling distressed, or needing wisdom for your life, the Bible is practical, reliable, and well worth reading.

Some of my favourite passages are organised below. Feel free to browse through my collection. If you’d like to talk about faith or religion please get in touch via the button below.

Faith

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Hope

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Love

This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

1 John 4:10 NLT
